Bazhanov Valentin Aleksandrowitsch Honored Worker of Higher Professional Education of the Russian Federation (2004), doctor of philosophical sciences (1989), professor (1991), since 2003full member of the Academie Internationale de Philosophie des Sciences (Belgium), Head of the Department of philosophy, sociology and politology of Ulyanovsk State University.

V. Bazhanov was born on January the 10th 1953 in Kazan. 1975he graduated with honors from Kazan State University with a degree in Physics (speciality theoretical physics). In January 1979he defended his candidate’s dissertation in Leningrad State University (Logical and epistemological analysis of the completeness of formalized knowledge) and 1988 his doctoral dissertation in the Institute of Philosophy at the Academy of Sciences of the USSR (Types and levels of reflection in the physical and mathematical science, speciality 09.00.08 Philosophy of science and technology). Since 1990he was a professor at the Kazan State University. Since autumn 1993he was Dean of the branch of Moscow State University in Ulyanovsk (since 1996 Ulyanovsk State University), he held this position until 1996. He is a member of Expert Councils of Russian Foundation for Basic Research (2002 to 2013with a break for rotation) and Russian Foundation for Humanities (from 2014Deputy. Prev. Division), a member of the Expert Council of Higher Attestation Commission on philosophy, cultural studies and sociology, expert of Russian Science Foundation, Higher School of Economics, member of the editorial board of Review of Modern Logic magazine (USA), Problems of philosophy, Reflexive processes and control, Epistemology and philosophy of science, Philosophy of science and technology, Kant collection, News of the universities of the Volga region. Humanitarian sciences. V. Bazhanov won various grants from Ministry of Education and Science of Russian Federation, Russian Foundation for Humanities (19961998, 20032005, 20072009, 2010-2012), grant from Russian Foundation for Humanities for informational support of universities in Ulyanovsk (1997-2000), Russian Foundation for Basic Research (20002003, 2013-2015), publishing grants from Russian Foundation for Humanities (2007, 2014) and Russian Foundation for Basic Research (2009), International Science Foundation (Soros Foundation, 1993, 1994, 1995), MION (2004-2005), British Academy Research Fellowship (1998), Lakatos Research Fellowship (2008).

V. Bazhanov published 495 scientific works, prepared 17candidates of sciences, consulted at 2doctoral dissertations.
