Valery Falkov , the Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation on the television channel Rossiya spoke about the peciliarities of the 2020 admission campaign and measures to support students in the difficult financial situation in connection with the pandemic.
The head of the Russian Ministry of Education and Science said that applicants would be able to submit documents to universities beginning from June 20, regardless of the date of the unified state exam. The admission campaign will be held remotely, in accordance with the recommendations of the ministry. “Many universities have developed relevant information services that allow applicants to submit applications and information about the certificate through a personal account in compliance with all the requirements of the law on personal data protection. Those who do not have an Internet connection will be able to send documents by mail” Valery Falkov explained.
Speaking about entrance examinations, the minister said that creative universities will be able to take exams in person if the epidemiological situation in a particular region improves. “It is impossible to provide online services in everything. The exams are going to be held in case if the epidemiological situation improves and in compliance with the recommendations of the Federal Service for Supervision of Consumer Rights Protection and Human Welfare. The universities that offer creative programs will decide themselves in what format and when exams are going to be conducted” added the head of the ministry.
Among the measures to support students, Valery Falkov called maintaining the cost of training at the level of 2019, increasing the number of budget seats and loans with state participation.
We would like to remind that according to the order of the Ministry of Education and Science of Russia No. 692 of May 28, 2020 from June 1, 2020 until the end of the restrictive measures in each specific region, the process of studying at universities, as well as passing the final and intermediate certification by students, is implemented in a remote format. The admission campaign to universities also takes place using distance technology. The activities of scientific organizations, including expeditions, are resumed in compliance with the measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
