The international standards championship WorldSkills has been held at the university
WorldSkills is an international organization that promotes vocational, technical,
and service-oriented education and training. Seventy eight countries are the members
of the Union. The organization works with young people, educators, governments
and industries, creating workforce and personnel, helping them in their further
WorldSkills Championships are held every two years
in different countries, and they are attended by young skilled workers,
university and college students under the age of 22 as participants, as well as
renowned professionals, specialists, industrial trainers and mentors as experts,
evaluating the execution of the task.
Two years ago, USU became the first university in the region to host the WorldSkills university stage. Since then, the competition at the flagship university has become regular.
The opening ceremony was attended by representatives of the university administration. The students went through the draw and the briefing, then for several days they completed the tasks of the championship. Competitions included testing for the two highest competencies - graphic design and engineering design. Laboratories and computer classes of the university are equipped with everything necessary to conduct tests of this level.
A business program was included in the schedule of the championship, which included meetings with practitioners . Leading specialists from Russian universities told the participants about digitalization of business processes, aviation design, and modern computer design technologies.
The winners of the WorldSkills Championship at USU are:
1st place - Alexey Alexandrov, a fourth year student, FCA,
2nd place - Olga Alinina, a fourth year student, FCA,
3rd place - Anastasia Chikunova, a fourth year student, FCA.
1st place - Pavel Abrashkin, a third year student, FMIAT,
2nd place - Vladimir Novitsky, a third year student, FMIAT,
3rd place - Vladislav Yakubovchi, a second year student, FMIAT.
The first places winners got the right to participate in the next - All-Russian - WorldSkills championship round and the opportunity to compete for the main award.
