The primary objective of the international activity of USU is directed to
expanding and developing educational, scientific and cultural relations with
foreign partners. The university maintains existing and constantly establishes
new contacts with universities and organizations in the USA, Germany, France,
China, Czech Republic, Japan, as well as in the CIS countries.
Currently, there are about 30 universities of far
and near abroad are among the partners of USU.
In the framework of cooperation with US universities,
the Russian-American Faculty of USU is implementing a double degree program in the
field of Economics with Wesleyan College (Macon, Georgia) and East Tennessee
University (Johnson City, Tennessee).
Collaboration is going on with the Fulbright
Program. That offers a scholarship
program at USU for a Fulbright fellow to work as an English teaching assistant
and give classes in English for students of the Institute of International
In accordance with the cooperation agreements
between USU and German universities, joint academic programs are being
implemented, providing for the “double diploma” by students of the
Russian-German faculty. The partners of USU in Germany are the following:
University of Duisburg-Essen (Duisburg, Essen), University of Osnabruck
(Osnabruck), Niederrein Higher School (Krefeld), University of Furtwangen
In the framework of cooperation with the Niederrhein
Higher School, annual German-Russian business workshops are held with the
participation of students from the Russian-German Faculty of USU and Nizhny
Novgorod State University of Architecture and Civil Engineering.
Jointly with the Niederrhein Higher School,
international jHack conferences are organized annually, which students who study
programming at the Faculty of Mathematics, Computer Science and Aviation
Technology of USU participate in.
Cooperation with the Representative Office of the
German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) provides for the work of a German
lecturer with the aim of conducting classes in the German language at USU, consultations
on training opportunities and research work in Germany, seminars for teachers
of the German language, cultural events.
The Russian-German Center for Culture, Education,
Science and Innovation operating at USU is designed to help enhance the
attractiveness of the German language and enhance interest in relations with
Germany. The partner of the center in the field of language learning and
culture is the Goethe German Cultural Center.
USU also has the International Linguistic and
Cultural Center named after Antoine de Saint-Exupery, the purpose of which is to
implement activities aimed at learning the French language and getting familiarity
with the culture of French-speaking countries, conducting research, organizing
project activities in the field of intercultural communications.
Ten preeminent universities of the People’s Republic
of China are among the partners of USU, cooperation with which includes the
implementation of joint projects in the field of education: the organization of
exchanges of students, teachers and scientists, seminars, competitions,
symposia and scientific conferences for students and young scientists of the

Hebei Province) are actively developing in the field of health-saving
technologies, in particular, in the field of popularizing ancient Chinese
health-improving practices, as part of the International Academy of Qigong and
Taijiquan at the Russian-Chinese Center for Strategic Partnership of USU.
USU also organized free Chinese language courses
for students and university staff, which are conducted by volunteer teachers
In 2019, USU for the third time became one of the
venues for the Russian-Chinese youth business incubator — a unique project that
has been implemented in the Russian Federation since 2016 with the goal of
establishing business ties at the international level.
The university is also a co-organizer of major
international scientific events. Together with the Government of the Ulyanovsk
Region and the Scientific Center of Neurology of the Russian Academy of Medical
Sciences, the All-Russian scientific and practical conference “Nexus Medicus”
is annually held on neurology, phlebology, angiology, cardiovascular medicine,
surgery, gynecology, urology with the participation of representatives of the
Mayo Clinic (USA) and leading European clinics.
In addition, under the auspices of the World
Association of Phlebologists, an international training course “Academy of
Promising Phlebology Trends” is held with the participation of leading experts
from Brazil, Italy, Spain, Argentina, and India.
Collaboration is going on with the Oxford Russia
Fund, a British charitable organization which annually provides scholarships
for USU students studying humanities.
In order to develop academic exchanges, the
university holds regular meetings for students, graduate students and teachers
with the coordinators of such international educational organizations as
ASPRYAL / ACCELS, IREX, Fulbright Foundation.
Currently, there about 1,500 foreign citizens from
40 countries of the world who take courses at the university.
