Positions of USU in national academic Rankings
In recent years, the University has made a real breakthrough in its development
and has achieved impressive results. Today, the progressive dynamics of the
life development of USU is clearly visible in all directions — education,
science, international cooperation, administrative and economic activities,
etc. This is evidenced by the position of the University in various Russian Rankings.
Russian practices of independent ranking of universities are represented mainly
by academic Rankings, of which the most famous are:
“National University Ranking” [1] — conducted by the Interfax international
information group (MIG) in partnership with Echo of Moscow radio station (RS)
since 2009.
Considering that different numbers of universities fell into the Rankings of
different years, in general, according to this Ranking, the position of USU
looks quite stable, indicating that USU is in the top 100 best universities in
Russia (Table 1):

* According to the results of the “Ranking of universities of the CIS” (see
below)
Unfortunately, according to the “Ranking of Russian universities” in 2013-2018
it was not possible to enter the top 100 of USU (subsequent positions are not
published). Different reasons could influence the results. In particular, the
Expert RA agency made an adjustment to the criteria base. In addition, the
survey was influenced by a survey of the professional community:
representatives of universities, graduates and employers. It should be noted
that universities make certain claims on this Ranking regarding the quality of
the selection of indicators and their values.
“Ranking of CIS Universities” 2 (among the best national universities of the
CIS countries) — conducted by the Expert RA Ranking Agency (RAEX) since 2014.
In 2014, Expert RA Agency for the first time conducted a “Ranking of CIS
Universities”, the short list of which from Russia included the top 100 best
Russian universities. Despite the fact that in 2014 USU did not formally get
into the top 100, it was included in the short list of the “Ranking of CIS
Universities”. As a result of summarizing this Ranking, USU, the only Ulyanovsk
university, ranked between 104–153 universities in the CIS and between 67-95
universities in Russia, receiving a Ranking class E (a sufficient level), and
entered the top 100 best universities in Russia, as well as the number of the
best universities in the CIS countries.
“The Ranking of the reputation of Russian universities in integrated areas” 2 -
is maintained by the Expert RA Ranking Agency (RAEX) since 2014.
This Ranking is based solely on the assessment of universities by target groups
(excluding statistical indicators).
In 2014, USU, the only Ulyanovsk university, took 43rd place in the top 50 best
universities in Russia in the field of Economics and Management. In 2015-2016
in this Ranking USU retained its place in the top 50 best universities in
Russia, taking 48 and 50 positions, respectively (Table 3).

In

preparatory activity for participation in the 2014 ranking on the performance
indexes of 2013. At
the request of the QS administration in the second phase in November 2013, s a
detailed statistical information was provided on the staff structure, including
teaching staff (full-time, part-time, with Ph.D. and Doctor’s degree), and the student contingent
(full-time, part-time, part-time) of all training levels (baccalaureate,
specialty, magistracy, residency, postgraduate study, doctoral studies).
On
the basis of the collected data, in December 2013, the QS University Rankings
BRICS mini-ranking was the first international ranking of the universities of
the BRICS countries. Unfortunately,
in the aggregate of all criteria USU could not get in top 100. However,
according to the criterion of «International students», Ulyanovsk
State University took 98th place.
In
2014 and 2015 USU failed to participate in either full-scale QS-ranking or mini-ranking of
QS-BRICS.
In
October 2015, the results of the new international mini-ranking of QS
