Department of Propaedeutics of Internal Diseases
The history of the department dates back to August 17, 1992 when the first clinical department of valueology was established (the department chair — MD, Semenov V.A.) at the Faculty of Medicine, the Ulyanovsk branch of MSU (the first dean – Candidate of Medical Science., associate professor Biktimirov T.Z.) of) to teach propaedeutics of internal diseases with a course of general care.
In September, 1993 the department of valueology was reorganized into the department of internal diseases to train personnel, prepare the base and documentation for other classical therapeutic departments. In 1995 the department of internal diseases was divided into three independent departments: department of propaedeutics of internal diseases (the department chair — MD, professor Semyonov V.A.), department of faculty therapy (the department chair — MD Ruzov V. I.), department of hospital therapy (the department chair — MD, professor Pashchenko I.G.).
From the very beginning of its existence main activities of the department have been: creation of the school of propaedeutics of internal diseases on the basis of sharing experience of teachers of various therapeutic specialties and higher education institutions of the former USSR; creation of the teaching methods acceptable in the contemporary setting directed at improving theoretical and practical skills by students and doctors; preparation of master's theses of the first graduate students.
The founder of the department — Semyonov Vadim Alekseevich, MD, professor, therapist, cardiologist. Semyonov V.A. was the chairperson of the department up to May, 2012 when a serious illness took Vadim Alekseevich's life.
Since May, 2012, MD, pulmonologist, therapist Gnoyevykh Valery Viktorovich has taken over the duties of the department chair.
