Arzamaskin Nikolai Nikolaevich

The department of Theory and History of State and Law was founded at the Faculty of Law of Ulyanovsk State University in the spring of 1991. The first head of the department was doctor of historic sciences, professor Kizilov Yu. A. who held this position till October, 1996Due to the formation of the Institute of Law and Public Service in 1999in Ulyanovsk State University the department gained an interfaculty character. From October, 1996to August, 1999 the department was headed by cand. Jur.Sci., associate professor Shagiyeva R. V., and since September, 1999to the present professor Arzamaskin N. N. has been fulfilling his duties as the department chair.

The department provides instruction of six key courses: Theory of State and Law, History of National State and Law, History of State and Law of foreign countries, History of political and legal doctrines, Roman Law, Important problems of theory of state and law. Teachers of the department worked out and deliver the following special courses: "Comparative jurisprudence", Hermeneutics in Law, "Geopolitics", Introduction to specialty. To provide methodical support for the instruction process the department teachers prepared curricula of courses and special courses, methodical manuals for full time and part time students.

Sufficient attention is focused on the teaching techniques improvement of subjects. Classes are given with the use of both classical and active forms of education: classes are conducted in small groups, in the form of group conferences, business games, colloquiums, etc. The department is responsible for the curricula development, organization of educational process, practical training and graduation requirements of students. At the department within program 12.00.01 Theory and history of Law and State; History of doctrines about Law and the State graduate students and competitors take postgraduate courses. Theses of candidate of science were defended under the guidance of candidate of Jurisprudence, associate professor N. N. Arzamaskin. The teaching staff is engaged in scientific researches. For the last five years at the department three doctoral dissertations have been prepared and successfully defended subsequently.

Teachers have over 300articles and abstracts, 19monographs published.

Teachers of the department are active participants of international, All-Russian and regional conferences.

The department is involved in scientific research on the subject Problems of the Russian Statehood: questions of history, theory, practice. Interuniversity collections of scientific works have been published since 2003on the topic of research. Publications come out 4times a year from 2008.

Much attention is paid to scientific work with students. The student scientific circle Problems of Theory and History of State and Law functions on a constant basis.

Teachers of the department maintain close business, creative ties with public authorities and local government. The department actively cooperates with the leading higher education institutions of Russia: Moscow State University named after M.V. Lomonosov, Kazan (Volga) Federal University, Chuvash State University named after I.N. Ulyanov, Bashkir State University, Mordovian State University named after N. P. Ogarev; Tolyatti State University, the Academy of Justice of the Russian Federation, the Russian academy of Law of the Russian Federation,, the Nizhny Novgorod academy of Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia, the Academy of Economic security of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia and others.
