Teachers of the Department of Information Technology of USU present their research results at the 18th European Control Conference
Teachers of the USU Department of Information Technology, the Faculty of Mathematics, Information and Aviation Technologies, Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor Innokenty Semushin and Doctor of Physics and Mathematics, Professor Julia Tsyganova took part in one of the largest international scientific events - the 18th European Control Conference. The forum was first organized in Russia at IPMash RAS and ITMO University in St. Petersburg.
Conference issues are wide and the geography of participants goes far beyond Europe. Theoretical research of the authors covers all aspects of complex control systems - digital, non-linear, adaptive and intelligent. Many presentations are devoted to a variety of applications of the theory. Among them are the problems of navigation and motion control, biology and medicine, robotics, methods of controlling production systems and vehicles, as well as mathematical information technologies in the practice of the latest network and cyber-physical systems. Leading scientists and experts from 45 countries for four days have discussed important scientific and practical results obtained by them and their colleagues in the world. All presentations have undergone international peer review. As a result of strict selection, ECC’20 included 63% of the total number of presentations submitted. The conference was first held virtually. The working language of the conference is English.
The authors of works included in the ECC’20 program recorded video presentations and sent them to the organizing committee a week before the event. The organizing committee held online sessions in virtual classrooms strictly in the allotted time so that any participant could listen to the report and then enter into discussion on the report online. Live remote communication of participants took place on the Zoom platform. To ensure that the rules of the sessions were strictly observed, the organizing committee appointed moderators. According to the participants, all this ensured the excellent organization of the conference, despite its unusual format.
Professor Innokenty Semushin made a presentation in the section “Stochastic control” “Numerically Implementing the API Based Solution to Learn a Plant Dynamics for Stochastic Control Concurrently” (co-author Yu.V. Tsyganova). The research presented in this report is supported by grants from the Russian Foundation for Basic Research and the Government of the Ulyanovsk Region.
Professor Julia Tsyganova spoke on the panel “Stochastic filtering” with the report “Numerically Robust Maximum Correntropy Criterion Kalman Filtering Using the UD Covariance Factorization Approach”. The results of the research presented in her speech were obtained together with Maria Kulikova, a research fellow at the University of Lisbon.
In addition, Professor Tsyganova, at the invitation of the organizers, performed the duty of the chairman of the breakout section “Stochastic filtering” where presentations from scientists from Russia, Portugal, Sweden and Brazil were shown.
