The traditional “Modnikov Conference” on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the USU Department of Oncology and Radiological Diagnostics
The XIV Modnikov Scientific Conference, the Implementation of the national project “The fight against cancer”: educational aspect” was held in Ulyanovsk. The forum is dedicated to the 25th anniversary of the Department of Oncology and Radiation Diagnostics of Ulyanovsk State University.
“Modnikov Conference” has been held since 2004 in memory of Oleg Modnikov, an outstanding scientist and doctor, the founder of the Department of Oncology and Radiation Diagnostics at USU, professor, doctor of medical sciences, honored scientist of the Russian Federation. The conference was organized by the flagship university of the region. The conference partners were the Ministry of Health of the Ulyanovsk Region, the Association of Oncologists of Russia, the Association of Oncology Institutions of the Volga Federal District, and the Russian Association of Palliative Medicine.
The conference was held at the Palace of Children and Youth’s Creativity on October 25. More than 400 people participated in its work: doctors of oncological clinics, primary oncology rooms of polyclinics in the region, primary care doctors, healthcare organizers, university teachers, clinical residents and students.
The conference was attended by: USU Rector Boris Kostishko; Deputy Minister of Healthcare of the Ulyanovsk Region, Linar Zaripov; Director of the Institute of Medicine, Ecology and Physical Culture Vladimir Midlenko. A video message was delivered by a doctor of medical sciences, academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences, general director of the Research Center for Radiology of the Ministry of Health of Russia, director of the P.A. Herzen, chief oncologist of the Ministry of Health of Russia Andrei Dmitrievich Kaprin.
The conference program presented reports on modern approaches to the diagnosis of malignant tumours, the possibilities of anticancer treatment and rehabilitation in oncology, discussed the implementation of the national project “Healthcare”, and the work of the higher medical school. The conference was attended by experts from Moscow, Kursk, Tyumen, Samara and Kazan. In addition, a seminar “The role of primary care in the provision of palliative care” was held, where Pavel Zotov, the professor of Tyumen State Medical University of the Ministry of Health of Russia gave his presentation.
The conference was held as part of a system of continuing medical education, all participants were awarded certificates.
