USU choir performs together with soloists of leading opera houses
On October 20, artists from leading Moscow theaters with the Ulyanovsk State Academic Symphony Orchestra “Gubernatorsky” presented Tchaikovsky’s opera “Iolanta” at the Lenin Memorial. The choir of students and teachers of Ulyanovsk State University participated in the performance.
The conductor of the performance is the chief choirmaster and conductor of the State Academic Bolshoi Theater of Russia, People’s Artist of the Russian Federation Valery Borisov. The main parts were performed by soloists of the Bolshoi Theater of Russia, the Galina Vishnevskaya Opera Center and the New Opera. The choir and soloists were accompanied by the Ulyanovsk State Academic Symphony Orchestra “Gubernatorsky”.
“The ensemble of performers assembled in Ulyanovsk presented on the stage of the Lenin Memorial an artistically designed and emotionally vivid performance of Iolanta. It is very natural that the soloist of the Lenin Memorial Margarita Dolgonenkova was among the ensemble of soloists from the leading opera houses of Moscow and the Saratov Theater, demonstrating a strong vocal school and stage charm. The choir of students and teachers of Ulyanovsk State University under the leadership of Larisa Filyanina reached a new level of skill: a team made up of lovers of singing once again demonstrates to us a high level of professionalism and involvement in the world of great music” said music lecturer Olesya Fialko.
Students, teachers and staff members of USU headed by Rector Boris Kostishko attended the unique performance.
