USU Associate Professor moderates the session at the largest forum of radiologists in Chicago
The Russian Society of Clinical Oncology (RUSSCO)
held its own session on September 15 in Chicago at the Congress of the American
Society of Radiotherapists (ASTRO). The moderator and one of the speakers was Natalya
Dengina, the head of the radiological
department of the State Healthcare Institution Clinical oncologic hospital ,
associate professor of the Department of Oncology and Radiation Diagnostics of
USU, a member of the board of RUSSCO. This was the first report from Russia at
the largest congress of radiation oncologists in the world.
ASTRO Annual Congress is the largest scientific event for radiation oncologists around the world. In 2019, the first joint session of RUSSCO-ASTRO-SPRO “Palliative radiation therapy for incurable patients: restraining symptoms, strengthen hope” was held. A similar session together with ASTRO was already held in Moscow on November 15, 2018 in the framework of the XXII Russian Cancer Congress. Positive feedback about it from representatives of the American side and the high attendance of the session contributed to the fact that it was decided to duplicate it at the Congress in Chicago on September 15-18. Moreover, the session was among top- 10 (out of 42 proposed) sessions for live broadcasts with credit points accrued through the system of continuing medical education.
