International students of USU participate in the festival of languages
The XVI International Festival of Languages “Many Nations - One World”
was opened at I.N. Ulyanov USPU on March
30. The event was attended by Arab students of the preparatory department of
the Center for Russian Language and Culture and senior students from Lebanon,
Egypt, Iraq, Syria, Palestine, Jordan and Israel.
More than 30 languages were presented at the
festival, 50 presentations were held. There was an opportunity not only to
listen to the songs and see the dances of different nations, but also to try
their national dishes.
Participants are Ulyanovsk schoolchildren and students. Teachers and students of the First Hunan Pedagogical University named after Mao Zedong (China), Bashkir State Pedagogical University named after Akmulla, Kazan State Institute of Culture, Mari State University, Mordovia State Pedagogical University named after Evseev, Peoples’ Friendship University of Russia and Udmurt State University have been the guests of the festival this year.
International students representing our university made a presentation “We are studying at USU. Our native language is Arabic. ” The speech was interactive: information about the language alternated with small lessons of Arabic writing and conversation. The bravest of the guests came out to the blackboard and wrote Arabic letters and words, answered basic questions in Arabic. The presentation frames on the screen and the handout materials with the text of the lesson helped the participants. The audience took part in the language game - the pronunciation of Russian and Arabic tongue twisters, the performance of songs.
“I think that the preparation of the presentation and the performance at the festival united the children and brought new colors to the ordinary student life, expanded the boundaries of classrooms and dormitory rooms, gave the joy of communicating with native speakers of different languages and cultures”, said Olga Goryunova the associate professor of the Russian language and teaching methods department.
