USU delegation participates in the First Forum of Rectors of Russian and Kyrgyz Universities in Bishkek
Today, on March 27, the First forum of Rectors of universities of the
Kyrgyz Republic and the Russian Federation “Development of science and
education - investments in the future” is going to be held in the Ala-Archa
state residence. It is going to be attended by delegations from 70 Russian
universities. At the meeting a cooperation agreement is expected to be signed
between the Association of Higher Education Institutions of the Republic and
the Russian Union of Rectors.
Forum participants are to discuss the formation
and strengthening of a common Eurasian educational space, thus expanding the
horizons of cooperation in higher education. The delegation of USU is represented
by Rector Boris Kostishko and Vice-Rector for External Relations and Youth
Policy Tatyana Kirillova.
It should be noted that today about 16 thousand students from Kyrgyzstan are studying in Russia. In universities of the Kyrgyz Republic - about one and a half thousand of Russians.
Sooronbay Jeenbekov, the President of Kyrgyzstan spoke at the forum, who expressed hope that the event would be fruitful and effective interaction between the two countries. In addition, he invited the Rectors of Russian universities to create a single educational space. “Our allied relations, first of all, should be strengthened in the spiritual, humanitarian, intellectual sphere,” said Jeenbekov.
The First Forum of Rectors of Russian and Kyrgyz Universities is held on the eve of the state visit of Russian President Vladimir Putin to the Kyrgyz Republic. The agenda of the upcoming meeting will embrace the economy, foreign policy, the military sphere and other areas.
