The flagship university’s volunteers will work at the festival
2017-08-08 08:02

The I Festival of national sports and games of CIS countries is to be held from August 12 to 16 in Ulyanovsk. One hundred volunteers will assist in organizing and holding the festival, among who the volunteers of the USU volunteer corps. Kirill Valov, the director of sports and mass participation events, said that in order to  form the volunteer corps of the upcoming festival the selection contest was conducted in the region. The registration started in March and in June 130 people were selected out of more than 500 applicants. The major criterion – experience in the field of sport volunteer services. A reserve of 30 people was also formed. At present their immersion in functional directions is taking place, they familiarize themselves with the venue objects of the festival said Kirill Valov. Young volunteers are expected to work in five areas. This is work with participating teams (attaché), at the venues of sporting events, with the mass media as well as with the services of accommodation, transport logistics, catering and provision. Each volunteer will get a branded uniform.

We would like to remind that the Ulyanovsk region is one of the pilot subjects where the standard of developing volunteer activity has been introduced  which was worked out by the Agency for Strategic Initiatives. As Ekaterina Uba, the Vice-Chairman of the Government, points out, the Directorate of the Good Deed Year will serve as the coordinating body of this work. The standard will help to create favorable conditions in the region that allow everyone who wish to participate in the volunteer movement.
