The exhibition has been opened at USU
On February 21 the Green Day exhibition began work in the foyer of the first USU classroom building. It was prepared by the department of the Russian Union of architects with assistance of the Department of Architecture and Urban Planning of the region within the Five-years Period of Improvement program announced by the governor. The project incorporated works of both the specialists of landscaping, leading architects of Ulyanovsk, and students, graduates and teachers of the USU Faculty of Culture and Art. The student works performed under the guidance of Antonina Polikanova, the associate professor of design and art of interior became the winners of the All-Russian contest of innovative projects in the field of design " The wind of Dream ", All-Russian Open Contest devoted to the 70 anniversary of the Victory, the V international festival of innovative technologies in architecture and construction "The green project", other professional contests. Some propositions on the improvement of the urban environment and natural landscape presented in the exhibition have already been realized. Historical documents from the archive holdings of the Public Records Office of the Ulyanovsk region are of particular interest: views of Simbirsk at the end of the 19th century, the layout reconstruction project of Marishki Square (1880), the rebuilding plan of Novy Venets Boulevard in the 1940-s of the XX century.
Sergey Frolov, the chairman of the Ulyanovsk department of the Russian Union of architects, the research advisor of student projects, Antonina Polikanova, the associate professor of the design and art of interior department made speeches at the opening ceremony of the exhibition. The first tour on the exhibition was conducted by Elena Kutnyakova, the secretary of the Ulyanovsk department of the Russian Union of Architects, a graduate of the USU Faculty of Culture and Art.
