2008-11-09 17:31

Ulyanovsk State University celebrated its 20th anniversary with a festive ceremony and a gala concert held on November 7 at one of the largest city venues, Lenin’s memorial center.

Among the honorary guests were members of the regional and municipal administration, business, education and cultural leaders, representatives of partner institutions, both from Ulyanovsk region and other parts of Russia.

The ceremony began with presentation of federal medals and certificates of recognition to veteran employees by governor of Ulyanovsk region, Serguey Morozov.

The festivities culminated in a gala performance that featured popular student and teacher music and dance groups, including international events winners, such as a folk band “Russian Soul”, Russian folk dance group “Tradition”, an accordion player Artem Forrat.

USU was founded in February 1988 as an affiliate of Moscow Lomonosov State University and changed its name to Ulyanovsk State University in 1995.
