USU receives guests from Oklahoma City
2008-10-25 10:43

A delegation from Oklahoma City headed by Mayor Michael Cornett, which visited Ulyanovsk on October 22–24 to sign a sister city agreement, took a tour of the university campus and met members of USU faculty and staff.

Cooperation between the two cities dates back to 1992, when joint efforts by Russian and American partners led to the establishment of the first international joint stock company in Ulyanovsk, “Simbirsk Dialogue”, which promoted collaboration in public health, education, culture, business.

Back in the 90-s, Oklahoma City University became one of the first international partners of USU, then the affiliate of Moscow Lomonosov University, forging a link that lasted for about a decade and allowed a number of USU students to complete their degrees at the American partner institution.

Mayor Cornett said he would do his best to encourage the cross-cultural exchange between the regions with a special focus on educational opportunities.
