USU students mastering design in Milan
Two USU students from the faculty of culture and arts majoring in “Costume Design”, Olesya Babarykina and Anna Voylokova, successfully completed a short summer course at NABA, New Academy of Arts and Design http://www.naba.it , in Milan held on July 15-25. Anna and Olesya, both top students who are about to start their sixth - and final - year of study, were offered this opportunity as part of the cooperative agreement between NABA and USU. They became the first USU students to attend the prestigious institution since the formal establishment of partnership in November 2007.
Olesya, who received a tuition scholarship from NABA, and her fellow student Anna took advantage of the intermediate level course named “Product design studio” devoted to “Cross-pollination as an attitude to design”. The program provided an intensive and specialized training experience through classes in Italian design history, workshops held in a design environment simulating a professional studio, garment construction projects and visits to companies and production sites.
NABA was founded in 1980 by a group of artists who set out to challenge the rigid academic tradition by introducing new visions and languages closer to contemporary artistic practice. The academy offers Bachelor and Master Degree Programs in Visual Arts, Graphic Design, Design, Fashion, Media Design and Theatre Design.
