National Unity Day in Ulyanovsk
A round-table discussion held in the Regional Library on November 4 and dedicated to the National Unity Day brought together representatives of national minorities, advocacy groups and regional government.
Among the attendees were USU students, members of the Regional International Students Association. Several of the students received certificates of recognition for their active involvement in the community life.
Established in 2005, the holiday celebrates the liberation of Moscow from foreign invaders in 1612 by armed citizens under the leadership of Kuzma Minin and Dmitry Pozharsky. National Unity Day replaced the holiday traditionally celebrated since the establishment of the Soviet Union, the Revolution Day on November 7.
