Russian language competition for international students
October 24-26, USU hosted a Russian language competition for international students from cities of the Volga region, which brought together representatives of 16 countries.
The event was dedicated to the globally celebrated Year of the Russian Language.
The competition began with introduction of the teams - full-scale performances featuring poems, music and dancing. The following two days were filled with numerous contests that tested reading, speaking, writing and listening comprehension skills, as well as knowledge of vocabulary and grammar rules.
Besides showcasing their language skills, the participants enjoyed visits to cultural and historic sites, a tour of USU campus and a performance arranged by USU students from the faculty of culture and arts.
Three of the USU representatives won prizes in two nominations: Daniel Kankola Kristiano, a PR major from Guinea Bissau, became the best among senior humanities students. The second place in the same nomination went to Cong E, an exchange Russian language student from Hunan Normal University, China. Lemus Espana Elena Elvira, a music student from Guatemala, won the third prize among seniors majoring in subjects other than humanities.
