USU delegation visits Texas Tech University. Part 1.
USU rector Boris Kostishko and professor of mathematics and IT Innokentiy Semushin visited Texas Tech University (Lubbock, USA) October 15 – 21 to finalize a memorandum of agreement developed by the triple international consortium, which also comprises Samara State Aerospace University.
The memorandum is expected to promote information technologies through encouraging academic exchanges and joint research projects.
While in Lubbock, the delegation met TTU President, Jon Whitmore, and several senior officials to discuss possible cooperative efforts.
The schedule also featured visits to a few TTU units that will be directly involved in the collaborative programs: departments of Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical and Computer Engineering.
Another important visit was to SORCER (service-oriented computing environment) laboratory directed by Dr. Michael Sobolewski, a USU honorary professor.
Following the visit to the Nano Tech Center, the parties agreed to pursue the possibility of joint research in nanotechnologies, a field actively explored by USU scholars.
The memorandum signed during the visit will enable senior USU students to obtain a Master’s degree from TTU.
